Below is the name and personal statement of opposition to airport expansion of everyone who has signed the pledge.

| 80 | simonin (kfc) | don't expand the airports, there's enough already, people should slow down and appreciate what is around them more instead of running off to some other part of the world to mess it up as tourists for a few weeks. If air travel was taxed fairly that would be a start, but to encourage the growth of air travel by building more airports, at a time when it is blatantly obvious we should be doing everything we can to cut carbon emissions is downright stupid if you ask me, which you didn't, which is the point really cause none of you 'decisions makers' ever actually listen to anyone do you? ( except occasionally to large displays of public protest ) which is why i've signed this pledge. Some of us have got to try and be sensible, even if it is a complete pain having to stop your life just so you can make the world a slightly better place for a whole lot of ignorant people who'll already be blundering down some other dark alley of environmental destruction for a few more dollars. ahwellnevermindsuchislife :-) |

| 76 | Richard Lyne | We don't need more airports or expansion to existing airports. What we need is to close the tax loophole on aviation fuel in this country. An alternative would be to levy a charge on all incoming flights based on their flight path (possibly also based on engine efficiency, any emission scrubbing, etc) - to prevent the airlines fueling up elsewhere in the world and thus avoiding overly penalising carriers operating from this country. Aviation must be curtailed as the industry has become too cheap and is wrecking increasing havoc on our fragile environment. Innovation in fuel economy and investment in alternative transport needs to be stimulated. This is particularly needed for short journeys where trains should be a cheaper alternative. |

| 75 | AGNES | I OPPOSE THE FURTHER EXPANSION OF AIRPORTS IN THE UK BECAUSE INCREASED AIR TRAFFIC WOULD CERTAINLY AGGRAVATE THE GLOBAL WARMING EFFECT ON OUR PLANET EARTH. I THINK GIVEN THE SMALL SIZE OF EUROPE AND THE UK, PEOPLE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE USE OF OTHER FORMS OF TRANSPORT WHICH ARE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LIKE THE TRAINS. IT IS A MATTER OF MAKING OUR TRAIN SERVICES CHEAPER AND BETTER. These issues are too serious and urgent to stand back and let them cause irreperable damage to this fragile, but still beautiful planet. It's now or never! | 72 | I @ M | The expansion of night flights if the proposed new flight path goes ahead at NEMA will destroy the peace of South East Leicestershire with no thought of the effect on both the people and the environment in this area.Night flights in particular for what? More profit for the owners of the airport. That is profit before people and the environment they have chosen to live in did not include having freight planes flying very low overhead to disturb peoples sleep.24 hrs 7 days and 52wks. |
