With many experts now convinced that Peak Oil is to hand we should focus efforts on sustainable policies to cope with year on year decline in oil supplies. Depletion apart increasing reliance on heavier oil from Middle East is a poor mix for refinery feedstock and it's difficult to see how sufficient aviation fuel to meet (Gov't) projected aviation growth thru 2030 could be provided. Proposed expansion is quite simply totally unsustainable and must be opposed. |

Polluting gases produced by aircraft exhaust fumes are rising - aviation should play its full role in reducing greenhouse gases - there should be an end to the tax free status of aviation fuel, an environmental charge for flying that is equal to the environmental damage it causes and increasing the use of public transport for access to airports to at least 50% of all trips. We have a duty to future generations to cut harmful greenhouse gases. I am a member of the Campaign Against the Expansion of Coventry Airport (CAECA). |

Tony Blair said that climate change is the most important environmental issue ever, but at the same time the government is planning to vastly increase the number of fossil-fuel guzzling flights going to and from the UK. It doesn't add up, and it quite simply has to be stopped. If they ignore us and go ahead with airport expansion, continuing to put profit for big business before the environment and our children's futures, then I will take direct action to stop them. |
