We already have enough aeroplanes flying over our houses, (which are nowhere near the airport) and I do not want any more aeroplanes polluting my environment and disturbing the peace. We would much rather that the money be spent on expanding the trams in Manchester to benefit local people. |

Surface transport is far less polluting, and for shorter distances it is also quicker, city centre to city centre. I pledge not to fly for distances of less than 500 kilometres and to fly between continents only in exceptional circumstances. |

| 383 | fran | i feel the government is being totally duplicitous, claiming to be concerned about the environment when in fact it is supporting one of the fastest growing souces of carbon dioxide emissisons - air travel - by expanding airports and refusing to put tax on aviation fuel. something has to be done to convince the public that flying is not a right, it is a luxury which is having a devastating effect on the environment. it is not impossible to stop flying, in fact, for anyone concerned about the state of our environment it is the only possible choice. |
