No. Name Statement
109 Richard Rosson Live simply so others can simply live.
108 Susie Having lived near both Manchester and Plymouth airports I am well aware of the disturbance and pollution which airports can cause local residents and the environment. We should all oppose further airport expansion in favour of alternative domestic travel and well planned overseas travel which relies on the existing provision.
107 David Averre If the prime minister is sincere in his belief that global climate change is the greatest challenge facing mankind, he should take action now and curtail significantly the government's plans for airport expansion.
106 Lily Swan I am strongly opposed to the Government's plans for airport expansion. Expanding air traffic will undermine the best efforts of government and others to cut carbon emissions. It will have huge negative impact in the long-term both on the environment and the economy.
105 kezza The planet is dying and the expanding air industry is a major cause. We should be cutting back on air travel not increasing it.
104 diane i agree with the aims of this pledge
103 sarah wade I am opposed to further expansions of airports due to the massive environmental damage each aeroplane journey causes. I am signing this pledge as I am prepared to take any peaceful action to try and ensure a sustainable future for my children and grandchildren. I don't want them to inherit a stinking planet choked by selfish desires for a package holiday every 6 months.
102 JV We should remember that we are only borrowing this planet from our children, and take more care of it.

We should all look for a more sustainable future.

Why is fuel for civil aviation not taxed like fuel for cars/trucks etc? It would lead to a more realistic value for air transport.
101 blakeludwig Mr Blair seems committed to environmental issues, yet he needs to seriously admit the effect that air travel is having on the environment. Until some radical new solution comes about that enables 'flying without fumes', I'm opposed to any new expansion. It's better to contain the existing problem.
100 Alan Pinder We have lots of alternatives to air travel, e.g. rail travel for short distances, video conferences for business meetings. To allow continuing high growth of air travel will risk the planet for a few holidays.
