Air travel is the quickest way to send the planet to hell in a hand-cart. Cheap flights take no account of the price we all will pay in the future. Ban non-essential air travel!

Fear of climate change may not be the deciding factor, oil at $126 a barrel and rising, may well be. Eleven airlines have already stopped operating around the world and this is likely to rise in the future.

22/04/08, The Guardian reports that BAA is closer to breaking up because the Competition Commission reports that doing so will increase, yes you guessed it, competition. Well what a surprise! Increasing competition translates into nationwide airport expansion

James Hansen & other climate scientists are urging deep emission cuts (Guardian 7.4.08) as the EU & its international partners have grossly underestimated the scale of the problem. We need to return to 350ppm CO2 "if humanity wishes to preserve a planet similar to that on which civilisation developed." Where is the Churchillian leadership needed to speedily implement planet saving policies? Is anyone bovvered? I have given up flying, am growing own veg and specialise in standing at wintry bus stops! Example -inspired leadership anyone? Heard a particularly feeble politician recently who didn't seem to think it was his job....

Aircraft movenents over the New Forest and particuley Hythe are increasing and and there seems to be no end to it. Noise pollution in the summer months, stops the enjoyment of our gardens. Why must they fly over populated areas so far from the runway.

With Climate Change such an important topic the idea of increasing aviation through increasing infrastructure is absurd.

Airport expansion is wholly compatible with runaway climate change and wholly incompatible with the fight against it.
When will our government take the issue seriously and stop playing an ill-fated game?

With the planet perched on a precipice, it is crazy and irresponsible to expand air travel. I want to raise awareness about the damage air travel does, and try to prevent further expansion of airports. Our whole family (and dog) camped at Heathrow last year.
